I am familiar with this expression and I found that I'm more of a glass half full kind of person rather than a glass half empty person. I'm uncertain which is better, however I personally enjoy the optimist point of view because it seems to keep me in a better mood and helps me to appreciate the outcome more.
Seeing the glass half full can be a lot more helpful to ones morale and self esteem. Optimism can draw focus from the negative to concentrate the positive, which ultimately will contribute to any situation in a beneficial way. Solely focusing on the negative aspects will put a damper on anyones day and discourage them from trying to improve whatever it is that is the cause of that damper.
By staying positive I believe your state of mind as well as your performance will benefit. Seeing the glass as half full does not mean your standards of satisfaction are lowered, but your perspective is positive and you will be able to appreciate progress. Meanwhile, striving for more.
So, cheer up sunshine and look at the bright side.
