Assignment #12

I am familiar with this expression and I found that I'm more of a glass half full kind of person rather than a glass half empty person. I'm uncertain which is better, however I personally enjoy the optimist point of view because it seems to keep me in a better mood and helps me to appreciate the outcome more.

Seeing the glass half full can be a lot more helpful to ones morale and self esteem. Optimism can draw focus from the negative to concentrate the positive, which ultimately will contribute to any situation in a beneficial way. Solely focusing on the negative aspects will put a damper on anyones day and discourage them from trying to improve whatever it is that is the cause of that damper.

By staying positive I believe your state of mind as well as your performance will benefit. Seeing the glass as half full does not mean your standards of satisfaction are lowered, but your perspective is positive and you will be able to appreciate progress. Meanwhile, striving for more.
So, cheer up sunshine and look at the bright side.

In 195o, the Zenith Electronic Corporation developed the first "lazy bone", or remote control. It functioned on a cable that ran from the handheld remote to the television set. Dr. Robert Alder, an engineer for Zenith, suggested that instead of the cable, Ultrasonics be used. By 1956, using his ultrasonic method, he produced the first wireless remote control.
Robert Alder was born December 4, 1913 in Vienna, Austria. He recieved his docturate in physics and eventenually became the director of resaerch for Zenith Electronic Corporation. He joined the corporation in 1941. His innovative ideas flourished, specifically the remote control, with 9 million Alder remotes were sold.
By 1999, 99% of all Televison sets and VCRs sold in the US were equipped with remote controls.

Assignment #11

One year my family and I went the Minnesota State fair and every year we go we make sure that we stop by and visit our friends that own the Tiny Tim Donut joint. So, we stopped there and rested while we ate our free donuts. Soon after my little brother, who was about 7 at the time, had to use the bathroom so I escorted him there. The bathroom was designed with two entrances; one on each side. Each door was propped open so I was able to keep an eye an him. I watched him enter the bathroom, but when I left he ran out the wrong door on the opposite side. He must have gotten turned around and confused and he kept on going. I yelled, "John, John!" but he couldn't hear me. I was too timid to run through the men's bathroom so all I could think to do was run back to my parents and tell them what had happened. I thought maybe they would be reassuring and be calm and collected. However, this was definitely not the case. They started freaking out and I felt really bad and completely responsible for loosing my brother. We searched for hours and hours looking for him. Finally, we met back at the Tiny Tim Donuts and there he was!!! Someone had found him!!! We were so relived!!! From that day on I've always kept a very very very close eye on my little brother wherever we go.
